Children’s Ministry
Oakdale Park Church Children's Ministry Crew

Introducing kids to Jesus Christ, helping them to grow in their faith and relationship with God.

Sunday Worship: Experiences that kids love to be a part of ….

Nursery (ages 0-36 months)

Offered every Sunday, nursery provides a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for infants through toddlers while they experience the love of Christ through the hands of caring & screened caregivers.

Children’s Worship (3 yrs-Kindergarten)

Year-round, children participate downstairs in a worship service with their peers in a special place using sensory to experience God. Children are encouraged to participate in worship by being with God, talking with God, listening to God, and hearing the stories of God. Having their own worship time allows them to learn and grow in their faith and prepares them for meaningful worship with the larger congregation.

Kingdom Kids (1st – 5th grades)

Fall through spring, children are invited early in the worship service to meet upstairs and learn more about the big story of God in the Bible and their place in it.  Kids grow in their faith and understanding of the stories through retelling and living into the story with God-centered language. Students are encouraged to ask big questions, imagine, wonder, and marvel at what God has done and just how big his love is for us. Then, kids explore how God continues to work in their lives and the world today. One Sunday a month, 2nd-5th grade students are invited to join the larger congregation for the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

Wednesday Night Kid’s Clubs 6:30 pm – 8 pm September – April (CURRENTLY ON HOLD)

Crew (Kindergarten – 3rd grade)

Boys & girls gather as a large group to learn a Bible story. Then with their small group, they move through stations that help them understand the story more deeply, while they develop relationships with peers, their leaders, and most of all, Jesus.

Cadets (4th – 8th grade boys)

Cadets is a fast paced club where boys grow in all areas of life (spiritual, mental, physical, and social) through mentoring relationships with Christian men and a uniquely designed structured program. They primarily work, study and relate in their cadre/small group and enjoy many special events, including gym nights, campouts, and Cadet O Rama (derby car races).

GEMS (4th – 8th grade girls)

Girls experience large group worship and Bible teaching. In small groups, they build relationships and make new friends, study lessons, and have a time for prayer. GEMS enjoy special events such as service projects,
gym nights, crafts, and Prayer Pal communication and events.

Cadets Middle / GEMS Middle (6th – 8th grade boys / girls

This new aspect of Middle School ministry at Oakdale seeks to connect all middle schoolers in large group and fun activities. This group meets together once a semester in a safe environment where feelings and questions can be openly shared.

Safe Church Policy

Oakdale Park Church is dedicated to creating a safe environment for children to worship and grow. When God finished His work of Creation, he savored it and pronounced it “Good.” However, sin entered in and broke the goodness God toiled to create. In our society today, we witness that brokenness in the abuse and harm of children, the aged, and the vulnerable. Abuse and neglect are pervasive. There is no culture, race, age, nationality, religion, or tax bracket where it does not exist. It can happen wherever and whenever children or other vulnerable people are present. This knowledge causes us to pray for our children, to educate ourselves, and to develop comprehensive policies and procedures that ensure the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness of every person who seeks programming, shelter, comfort, worship, or friendship at Oakdale Park Church. All volunteers that work with children are required to go through Safe Church Training and complete the necessary paperwork. A full outline of Oakdale’s Safe Church Policy can be viewed below.
